

������� Phitsanulok is 377km (236mi) by road from Bangkok. It is one of the economically most important provinces in the North, serving as a center for commerce, transportation and communication.
Covering an area of 10,816sqkm (4,175sqmi), the province is divided into 9 districts, Muang, Bang Krathum, Bang Rakam, Chat Trakan, Nakhon Thai, Noen Maprang, Phrom Phiram, Wang Thong and Wat Bot. . Phitsanulok's other name is Song Kwae, meaning town or province of two rivers. Nan River is the main one, running 128km (80mi) across the province. Kwae Noi River (named like the more famous river running through Kanchanaburi) joins the Nan River near Phitsanulok city. This joint river divides Phitsanulok city into two parts, the East and the West Bank. Along both banks of this main transportation artery of the province, people live on house boats and house rafts. Thousands of these houses lay afloat in the rivers while some are in the swamps along the rivers.

Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathart 
�� � This monastery, commonly, called by the inhabitants as "Wat Yai" or "Wat Phra Buddha Chin Na Rat", is the most important monastery of Phitsanulok, the home of the famous Phra Buddha Chinnarat. It is located at the foot of Naresuan Bridge on the city side of the river. Thailand's most beautiful Buddha image is located in this temple.

���� Phitsanulok has other name so - called Song Kwae,
Song Kwae means the town of two rivers. Phitsanulok is situate along the Nan River.
Houseboats can be seen on the banks of the river where hundreds of people live and work.
As it is a main transportation route to the province, people gather together to stay on
house boats and house rafts along both sides of the river.
